It'll end in tears...

It looks like Keegan and Newcastle Utd just couldn’t resist each other any longer. The cynics will say that it’s a clear case of Mike Ashley, the clubs owner, listening to his heart and not his head - but I think it’s a smart move. The effect of his presence was almost immediate last night - Newcastle won 4-1 and the club sold around 20,000 tickets for the game in 2 hours once news broke.

The key to everything is Keegan’s staff, especially his assistant. Speculation suggests that Chris Coleman is to join, though rumours of Alan Shearer persist. The worry is that Keegan has been out of the game for 3 years, which makes the assistant’s position crucial. I think Coleman would do a good job, and hope Ashley resists the urge to bring Shearer back.

Of course, it may all end in tears, but it’ll be fun along the way...
