A Wee Break

Oasis WhinfellWe just got back from a lovely break at Oasis Whinfell near the Lake District. If you’re not familiar with the place, it’s basically a large holiday camp built into a forest.

Despite having 4 month old Ewan in tow, we managed to have quite an active holiday, taking in some quad-biking, clay pigeon shooting, football and swimming. I suppose when the wee man gets bigger it won’t be so easy to do these kind of things, but most of the time we were more than happy walking around the forest with Ewan, watching the red squirrels, pheasants, rabbits and woodpeckers going about their daily business.

Despite the chilly temperatures, it’s a good time of year to go as prices are cheap, and, being during school term, there’s not many of the older kids noising the place up (although we spotted several kids who should’ve been at school). In all, a nice wee break to recharge the batteries leading up to Crimbo.
