I am 4

xlab is 4 years old today. Curiously, the very first post I made here was about a new-fangled gizmo which had been released the previous day, the iPod. My doubts about the success of the gadget seem ridiculous now :

I own an 80 quid Samsung Yepp player and find it does the job for me. Admittedly it only has 32mb on board but thats enough tracks for the mundane bus journey to work and back.

…many people thought Apple were going to unveil a PDA of some sort. Now I think that would have been a much more interesting product…

Over the years I’ve re-designed xlab several times, so, to mark this day (and with the help of the Wayback Machine), here is a potted history of xlab as seen through the various styles of the day :

Congratulations, it' s no mean feat to keep a weblog running - at a continuously high standard - for that long. I remember all the designs very well, but I think you’re latest is the best.

Happy Birthday!

Mind, I feel I must apologise for more than slightly nicking your designs from Feb 03 onwards. I’m so ashamed! :(

No worries Mal. I get ideas for designs from other sites too - it’s part of the process!

Well done. Keep up the good work. Happy Birthday.
