A dodgy light bulb?
Minimalism triumphed at this years Turner Prize as Madonna presented the gong and a fat cheque to Martin Creed for his installation of an empty room where the lights go on and off intermittently - entitled "The Lights Going On and Off".
No doubt the debates will go on as to the validity of the work and whether or not you can call it art. It seems to me that the controversy caused by the work is a major factor in it’s success, and had it hardly caused a murmur in the media, Creed would never have won the prize.
