MAMP
Itís been around for a few months, but Iíve only just discovered MAMP ó a standalone package which installs everything you need to get a web development environment up and running on Mac OSX : PHP 5, Apache 2, MySQL 4, phpMyAdmin and Zend Engine 2.
All this software can already be downloaded and installed free of charge from their various websites (a default Panther installation already includes PHP and Apache, albeit older versions), though it takes a bit of fiddling to get it all up and running. MAMP, however, installs everything for you, taking care of config files and environment variables along the way, so you can have a top notch web development environment on your Mac in minutes ó wahey!
