TrÈs Bon ArÈoport

Back in Blighty after a weekend of blatant culture vulturing in Paris. My trusted Canon Ixus APS captured most of the sights so expect to see a trickle of photos in the next few days. The city itself never failed to live up expectations - Notre Dame, Pompidou Centre and Musee díOrsay the notable highlights - though as if to emphasise the splendour of the place even the airport is fabulous. Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport, designed by Paul Andreu, is a wonderful building. The huge great expanses of glass, sandblasted steel railings and the sweeping curved concrete roof are exceptional - landing in dreary Newcastle Airport was hardly the same.
