Judgement Night

Bobby RobsonAll the best to Newcastle tonight as they take on Marseille for a place in the final of the UEFA Cup. The squad is pretty bare, with plenty of notable absentees (Dyer, Bellamy, Woodgate & Jenas), so it’ll be an uphill task.

Such is the paucity of fit first team players, Bobby Robson has called back Steve Caldwell from his loan spell at Leeds, though Lua Lua reportedly turned down the chance to return to the fold.

It’s been a fairly mediocre season for Newcastle, but one good performance tonight will make it a memorable one.

Much as I hate to admit it, I don’t fancy our chances tonight. That Drogba fella looked excellent at St James’s Park - it was a miracle he didn’t put one away (though he did get very close!). I just hope we produce an away performance like our other European games rather than our league form.

Beers at the ready! :)

Ah well, so close but no cigar.

Aye, it was disappointing. Mal was right about Drogba - he looked impressive (though I got tired of the Channel 5 commentators constant drooling over his every touch). There was chances though - Ameobi had a couple of glimpses of goal, and there was a definite penalty claim. Maybe next year...

I hate it when I’m right. ;-) Marseille were well worth the win, though.

On the up side, I hope Shola can continue his form and just start notching the odd goal. Might catch the eye of a certain Mr Eriksson.
