Impending MyDoom

Despite knowing all about its intentions for most of last week, SCO were unable to defend their corporate website (www.sco.com) from a denial-of-service attack by the MyDoom virus :

Internet traffic began building momentum on Saturday evening and by midnight Eastern Time the SCO Web site was flooded with requests beyond its capacity. [MyDoom] was spectacularly successful.

Bad news for SCO, who appear to have been targeted for claiming ownership of key parts of Linux, but also bad news for Microsoft, who should expect a similar attack tomorrow when MyDoom.B (a variant of MyDoom) kicks in.

Incidentally, if you were ever unsure what a worm is, Reuters have provided a helpful graphic.
