Football in Hotpants

Sepp Blatter, the top man at FIFA — football’s governing body — has caused a bit of a stir. On discussing his plans to boost the women’s game, he suggested that the players play the game in tight tops and hotpants —

“Let the women play in more feminine clothes like they do in volleyball. They could, for example, have tighter shorts. Female players are pretty, if you excuse me for saying so, and they already have some different rules to men — such as playing with a lighter ball. That decision was taken to create a more female aesthetic, so why not do it in fashion?”

You can’t really get away with saying things like this nowadays (unless you are Prince Philip), but surely he was only saying what a lot of blokes have been thinking?...
