Multiple versions of IE on Windows?
Not yet convinced 100% of the validity of this technique, but it looks like a fellow web designer has figured out how to run multiple versions of Internet Explorer (IE) on Windows.
Previously it was impossible to run IE 5, IE 5.5 and IE 6 on the same machine without messing about with disk partitions and emulators. In our office, we’ve actually got 3 different Windows machines running these browsers. In fact, the only reason one of the machines is not consigned to the skip is to run IE 5.
When you consider the importance of testing out CSS and XHTML on different IE Win browsers, and the resources taken up to create a testing platform, this little discovery could save a whole load of effort.

Ryan Parman has followed this up by distributing zipped up archives of the files needed to run IE 5, IE 5.5 and IE 6 side by side on the same Windows installation. Kudos!

Good spot Mal. Judging by the original post in the forum thread, it was discovered nearly 5 months ago.
I wonder how no-one picked it up first time round?
By the look of blogdex.net, the guy at insert-title.com is getting linked to all over the place. There’s no date on the news article at insert-title.com, so I don’t know how long this has been on his website - I wonder if he genuinely found this out for himself...
Either way, it’s good that word has spread.

why would you wan tto do this the only hng it will do is end up corrupting files first you will lose flash then java ect. so if you wna to check the diffrent browsers do what i do release a beta version then send it to onlf a few people if they have trouble fix it
