The Pixies are Dead. Long live the Pixies.
The Pixies are re-uniting for a tour and a new album! Despite several compilations, there’s been nothing new from the Pixies for about 11 years since Trompe Le Monde, but as this article on the MTV site states :
In April, the legendary Pixies will reunite for the first time in over a decade. The notoriously quarrelsome quartet have buried the hatchet, clearing the way for all four original members to hop onstage together for a world tour, according to a spokesperson for the band.
Lovely. I wonder if the 'world' tour covers Newcastle? I remember seeing them live in Glasgow for about 3 minutes. As the opening chords to Debaser started, most of the crowd stormed forward and the barriers gave way. Despite Black Francis pleading with the crowd, the chaos resulted in the whole gig being cancelled. Major bummer, though I did get to see the supporting bands, Teenage Fanclub and er... Cud.

Ooh, Cud! That must be the same tour I saw. Saw them at Manchester G-Mex and they rocked, despite the soulless, cavernous nature of the venue. Kim Deal was definitely on something... My wife saw them in Vancouver where they played all of their songs in alphabetical order. She was on acid. It was, apparently, fucking awesome.
I hope they don’t suck.
