Finding Slupsk
My friend John is close to completing his own independent CD-ROM production, Finding Slupsk. It’s a marvellous idea - an atmospheric CD-ROM journal chronicling all the sights and sounds of a hitchhiking journey across Eastern Europe. I’ve always thought that an ideal use for a CD-ROM was a multimedia journal or story book. I remember playing Myst years ago and becoming really absorbed and engrossed in the storytelling and escapism, and I think with Finding Slupsk I will probably feel the same. Many CD-ROM and DVD-ROM titles seem to become great reference items, such as Grolier Encyclopedia or Microsoft Encarta, but I think there is still a great potential to use the medium to tell stories and convey extraordinary experiences.
Also : In Mac OS X, I’ve added links to a couple of great articles on Applelust and OíReilly Network - Flies in the OS X Ointment and Designing a Great UI the Aqua Way.
