Good luck to South Korea as they take on the relentless German footballing machine this afternoon in the World Cup semi-final.
The conspiracy theories of the nations defeated by South Korea have been a bit lame.
Fair enough, the refereeing has not been of the highest standard, but Italy and Spain both had very good opportunities to dispatch the Koreans (recall Vieri’s inexplicable miss in the final minutes of the second phase or the countless opportunities spurned by Morientes in the quarter final).
It’s a poor attempt by these footballing 'giants' to mask their own failings, and a denial of the skill, effort and tenacity of the joint hosts.

A third successive 1-0 win for the Germans put them in the final once again. They may not play the most attractive football in the world but they get the right results.
