Let the games begin
Who says Nintendo are not concerned about Europe? In response to Microsoft cutting the price of the Xbox by 40%, Nintendo have reduced the price of the Gamecube to £130, from the first day of it’s release next month. The original price was set to be around £170 and will no doubt be a pleasant surprise to the 30,000 odd people who have already placed an order.

So now the question is not whether to buy one or not, but which colour to but it in? Purple or Black?

The only thing that I (kind of) worry with the Gamecube is the majority of games being aimed at kids - what would be the odds on something like Halo or MGS2 appearing on the Gamecube?
I think a few (good) adult titles would really boost it’s popularity.

'Kids games' have always been the mainstay of Nintendo’s consoles so I’d expect the first releases for the Gamecube to follow suit. That said, they’ll have to bring out ‘adult titles’ (ooer) in order to compete.

I remember people buying N64’s so that they could play Goldeneye. Maybe something similar will happen with the gamecube.

Yeah, I’m pretty convinced that the Xbox is going to fail now. With the PS2 dominatiing the market and the Gamecube being sold for peanuts, I can’t see the Xbox doing much.

I can see your point.
Nintendo have also done well to get the GBA into a strong position (I think they announced the 1 millionth unit sold a few weeks back), and the connectivity between it and the Gamecube looks like a winner.
Also, when you think you can have a Gamecube and GBA (matching colours too!) for the price of an Xbox, maybe Microsoft are heading for a fall after all....

In terms of more adult titles, i was happy to hear that EA Canada are working on a ‘freeride’ mountain biking title, which I was hoping someone would do, being a big bike geek. So hopefully more adult titles will emerge after a while. I’m going to have to get one anyway...
