Champions League Fragging
Mark Ward, from BBC News, reckons that online gaming such as Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament will be become the next big spectator sport. Valve Software have already developed a spectator element to Half Life which allows many online viewers to watch a Half Life Counter-Strike (similar to Team Deathmatch in Quake III). Nicknamed Half Life TV, a spokesman for Valve claimed that over 8,000 online viewers tuned in to watch a Counter-Strike match between German and Belgian gamers. Crikey!
Soon it may not seem daft to imagine the rights to Deathmatches being argued over by online broadcasters - I hope not.
