The rules are very simple. When you begin, the game creates a random 5 digit number, without repeating any individual number. For example, 12345 would be valid, but 11345 would not. You then need to guess the correct combination of numbers.

Everytime you submit a combination of numbers, it's displayed underneath (most recent at the top).

The green number indicates how many of your numbers are in the answer, and in the correct position.

The orange number indicates how many of your numbers are in the answer, but in the wrong position. The game ends when you figure out the correct combination.

The game counts the number of attempts you make, and the aim of the game is to solve the combination in the least number of attempts.

I originally played this puzzle game on a Sony j70 mobile phone (circa 2001). The game is a variation of the classic Mastermind board game from the 1970's, created by Mordecai Meirowitz. You can read more information on Wikipedia.
