First purchase of the day - Ch-Check It Out by the Beastie Boys. Woohoo!

Don’t forget the grab the music video to that one Phil, it’s pretty cool.
Actually, there’s a neat trick to saving them. Let the vid load fully in iTunes then go to the Terminal and type "open /private/tmp/501/TemporaryItems/". Copy the temp file to your desktop, or wherever, then rename it with a .mov extension. Add seasoning and serve in QuickTime. :)

Well, apologies to sound like a curmudgeonly old bugger, but I don’t think I’ll be making any iTunes UK purchases. I like to have the freedom to do what I like with the music I’ve bought. The ITMS DRM may be ‘light’ and circumvented easily but the point is it’s there; you’ve paid for something that’s restricted, much like (but not quite as bad as) the new Beastie Boys album on CD, which has been crippled with ‘copy protection’. Oh dear.

Hey, that’s a pretty cool tip Tommy - cheers ;-)

My mistake. I’ve just read the footnote to that Boing Boing post. It seems that the UK/US release of the BB album does not have copy protection.

Yeah, I was pretty cheesed off about the new Beastie Boys album too until that update was posted.
I know what you mean, Matt, about avoiding DRM on principle, but I don’t mind buying the odd track to try stuff out. I’m still going to be getting my albums on CD because I like an uncompressed "master" copy which I can import at any quality I want. Also, I like to scan in the album artwork myself. Again, a factor of quality control.
