20-inch iMac

Apple have introduced a new iMac. The 20-inch iMac has, as you’ve no doubt worked out already, a massive 20-inch display, enabling screen resolutions of up to 1680 by 1050 pixels.

The entire spec hasn’t changed significantly from the 17-inch model - 1.25 GHz G4, 256Mb DDR RAM, 80Gb HD. In the UK, you can pick one up for £1749.

I never thought they’d be able to put bigger displays on the iMacs without making them look ridiculous, but wide screens seem to be the solution. I can’t wait to see one "in the flesh" at my local PC World, they look sweet. :)

From a product design point of view, it’s also impressive that the arm and base supports the screen, because I’d imagine there’s a fair bit of extra weight.

I’d love one of these, using a 17" Powerbook you realise how useful it is to have plenty of screen real estate - the more the better!
