DirectX for Mac ?

Macslash has posted a link to a recent Macworld article about a company called Coderus that has developed a solution called MacDX. The tool aims to allow support for DirectX code on the Mac.

DirectX has become the standard development tool for Windows-based games software - PCs and Xbox. Effectively, it is the equivalent of Apple’s OpenGL and Sprocket technology.

This potentially means that games (and other apps) using DirectX technology could be ported to the Mac OS significantly faster than before, which could increase the likelihood of Mac and PC games enjoying simultaneous release.

Bearing in mind how long it took Wipeout 2097 to reach the Mac, this is good news.
