10.2.8 withdrawn
Apple has pulled the minor release to OS X, 10.2.8. Released on Monday, 10.2.8 was intended to provide enhanced functionality and reliability throughout a variety of applications and sevices, but Apple has withdrawn it following several problems reported with ethernet networking (mostly on iMacs and eMacs).

I find it interesting that the standalone download for Safari is still v85 and has not been updated to v85.5 which was included with 10.2.8. It’s unlikely Safari could have been the cause of any serious problems. :/

If it was, it’s been quickly swept under the carpet. All the talk is about problems resulting from the dodgy kernel extension.

I updated both of my PowerMacs to 10.2.8. The only issue I had was with my old PowerMac which had switched its screen res to 800x600 from 1024x768. Obviously I’m one of the fortunate ones, others have lost their ethernet connection because of a conflict between certain chips and an updated kernel extension.
More information on the fix for this problem can be found on Apple’s support forums: http://discussions.info.apple.com/WebX?14@79.GazDasvyeKX.1@.5999d9d9/10
