Test driving Firebird

I’ve been giving Mozilla Firebird a run-out at home on my trusty iMac. It’s only recently been made available to OS X users, but initial signs seem good. It’s certainly fast and renders pages accurately, though it does lack some of the polish of Safari or it’s sister (brother?) Camino.

However, the browser is most interesting for the way it is put together, using XUL. This makes it very easy for third-party developers to create extensions and widgets which enhance the applications functionality.
