iTunes 4.0.1 blocks public playlists

Apple has plugged the feature in iTunes 4 which allows people to share playslists over the entire internet. Together with some "performance and network enhancements" 4.0.1 only allows music sharing between computers (using iTunes 4.0.1 or later) on a local network and in the same subnet.

The update has come out pretty sharpish so I guess Apple must have had their knuckles rapped for allowing this to happen.

Apple really didn’t have much of choice in this situation. Between a rock and a hard place I think is the expression. It’s regretful however that Apple engineers couldn’t predict the misuse of the app. But then I guess no-one has a crystal ball.
