History of the browser user-agent string
This will strike a chord with any developer who has had to parse a browser’s user-agent string into something meaningful. It’s now got the point where it’s become an irrelevance.
As an aside, the article contains a bit of trivia which I wasn’t aware of - the name ‘Mozilla’ is derived from ‘Mosaic Killer’ (Mosaic being the dominant [only] browser at the time). Mosaic were obviously none too chuffed, and the name was changed to Netscape…
